What the artist says:

My work is inspired by the natural world – the shapes, textures, lines and colours that I see while I’m out and about. I often weave outdoors, where the experience, the sounds and the smells are what I remember when I see the final tapestry. This piece is the result of many observations of a glimpse of the remains of ridge and furrow seen out of a train window. Weaving in shades of purple is one way to take the image out of its own reality, so that the woven tapestry makes a bold step away from the direct visual of the grassy undulations that I observed in the landscape.
