What the artist says:
I grew up on a farm in Yorkshire and before I could talk I was using marks to try to capture my world. I started making tapestries in 2018. I was immobile following an operation and could not print or paint, so I began to ‘paint’ with threads. I use linen warp, cotton weft and my loom is an old picture frame. These tiny tapestries came out of the current ‘Harrowing of the North’, the result of many years of deliberate underfunding by central government. My aim is to catalogue this neglect with a series of small snapshots from the 1980s to the present day.
