What the artist says:
Born and living in North Yorkshire near Middlesbrough I have access to a beautiful diverse range of landscapes; moorland, farmland, forestry, Jurassic coastline and industry old and modern. For this exhibition I went with my love of the North East coast and Scarborough. I wove my Tapestry at 8 WPI on my scaffold loom at my studio in The Weaving Rooms, Darlington.
The golden orbs on the neck of the seaweed are this years new growth which will replace the old hand like fronds. The panels at top and bottom are sections of sandstone from a weathered wall at the top of the beach. In blue/green cloudy water caused by a high content of sediment and organic matter the Oarweed blades are sweeping backwards and forwards in the powerful turn of the low spring tide.
